La roya is the new film from Monociclo Films, an independent production company from Medellín who, from previous projects such as Los Nadie, we have supported in the visual communication of their films. This time we were in charge of the conceptualization and design of the poster.

 

Directed by Juan Sebastián Mesa, La Roya tells the story of Jorge, a young farmer who lives on top of a mountain. All of his generation have emigrated to the city, but he has stayed to take charge of the coffee farm that he inherited from his father, while he takes care of his grandfather and has affairs with his cousin Rosa.

 

The town’s festivities are approaching and he looks forward to the moment to meet again with Andrea, his ex-girlfriend, whom he has not been able to forget despite the time and distance. The desire to see her again becomes an obsession, while a silent plague invades the coffee plantations. The holidays arrive and in the midst of the loud music and hallucinations, Jorge will understand that everything that united them has disappeared and that staying in his land is an act of love and resistance.
